If your eID card isn’t recognized or read, it’s often due to a small technical issue. Try these steps first:
Check if the card is inserted correctly
Make sure the chip on your eID is properly in contact with the reader. Remove the card and insert it again firmly. The newer cards have the chip on the backside, make sure the chip is on top when you insert the card.Try another USB port
Some USB ports might not work properly. Plug your card reader into another port on your computer.Use another card reader (if possible)
If you can borrow one or have a second reader, try with that to see if the issue is with your reader.Restart your computer
A simple restart can often help re-establish the connection with your reader.Make sure your reader is properly connected
Using an external reader? Check if the light is on (if it has one) or if it’s firmly plugged in.
Tip: You can check via eID Viewer whether your card is read correctly by your computer. If it is, the issue isn’t with your eID or the reader
