The Connective browser plugin is used to read the data from your eID card when creating an itsme account. This plugin works on Windows and macOS, but not on Linux.
Alternative ways to activate itsme
If you’re a customer of one of our partner banks, you can create your itsme account directly through the bank’s app, no computer or plugin needed:
- Belfius
- BNP Paribas Fortis, Fintro, Hello Bank!
- ING
- KBC/CBC
In this case, the Connective plugin is not an issue.

In this case, we recommend visiting a Digibank near you. These locations offer computers and staff who can guide you step by step in using digital tools like itsme.
