You can encounter this error message when trying to log in to a government website or when attempting to log in to a government app.
The error is caused by the browser. The itsme app will always open the default browser set on your phone, and if you have started in a different browser, it can cause issues.
How to fix this issue:
Android:
- Ensure that Google Chrome is set as your default browser. You can check this via 'Settings' > 'Apps' > 'Default browser app' > 'Chrome'. (Depending on your device, this may vary; you can also use the search bar in the settings).
- Remove all browser data in the Google Chrome app via settings (found via the three dots in the top right corner of Chrome) and go to "History".
- Open the itsme app and tap on the 'Partners' button or go to the itsme website and click 'Where to use?' in the navigation. Select the partner you want to log in to and choose to log in with itsme.
iPhone:
- Ensure that Safari is set as your default browser. You can check this via 'Settings' > 'Chrome' > 'Default browser app' > 'Safari'.
- Delete Safari's browsing data via 'Settings' > 'Safari' > "Clear history and website data".
- Make sure you're not browsing privately in Safari.
- Open the itsme app and tap on the 'Partners' button or go to the itsme website and click 'Where to use?' in the navigation. Select the partner you want to log in to and choose to log in with itsme.
